CompTIA Security+ is one of the most recognised entry-level security certifications. It is vendor-neutral, so the skills apply whether a company uses Microsoft, AWS, Cisco or other tools.
The current version is SY0-701. It covers general security concepts, threats and vulnerabilities, security architecture, security operations, and security programme management and oversight.
A networking foundation helps a lot, so consider CompTIA Network+ or CCNA first if you are new to networking. Then study each Security+ domain, practise with labs on firewalls, logs and identity, and take timed practice exams.
After Security+, common next steps are CompTIA CySA+ (CS0-003), Microsoft SC-200 for SOC work in Microsoft environments, or EC-Council CEH for ethical hacking. Talk to us to plan your path and get a Security+ voucher.
