AWS and Microsoft Azure are the two most requested cloud platforms in Indian job posts. Both certifications are valuable, so the right first choice depends less on which cloud is “better” and more on where you want to work.

Look at the jobs you want

Open 20 job posts for the role you want in Hyderabad or Bengaluru and count which cloud they mention. Large enterprises, banks and IT services companies often run on Microsoft, so Azure skills appear frequently. Product companies and startups lean towards AWS.

Recommended starting points

• Completely new to cloud: start with a fundamentals exam such as AZ-900 or AWS Cloud Practitioner (CLF-C02).
• Working in IT support or system administration: Azure Administrator (AZ-104) builds directly on Windows Server and Active Directory skills.
• Developer or aspiring architect: AWS Solutions Architect – Associate (SAA-C03) is the most widely requested AWS certification.

Can you do both?

Yes, and many engineers do. Core ideas such as virtual networks, identity, storage and high availability carry over. After your first associate certification, the second cloud usually takes much less time.
